BEAT THE ACNE HEAT WITH THIS DIY COOLING MASK

The SF - Bay Area has been experiencing a heat wave, *ehem global warming* and for the most part it has been fun. For the most part... My face would beg to differ. My skin gets really oily and hot and produces a bunch of tiny "heat bumps", for lack of medical terminology. This is unacceptable. How can I flourish in the hot weather with a forehead full of tiny bumps? I can't. So I did some research. I found a natural anti-inflammatory mask. I tried it twice a week for one week and it worked wonders! The tiny pimples were gone in one week! Thank you teenage Jesus! The recipe calls for a cucumber, so this is a large batch, but not to worry you can freeze it and save it for later. I know, genius!

Here's the recipe:

  • 1 organic cucumber
  • 2 teaspoons of turmeric
  • 7 oz plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon organic honey

Slice the cucumber into small circles. Blend the cucumber slices and yogurt in a food processor until it's the consistency of a smoothie. Add the turmeric, avocado oil, and organic honey in a bowl with the cucumber/yogurt mixture and whisk until all ingredients are mixed well. Pour a small amount into a container with an air-tight lid (place in refrigerator after use) to use for the week and freeze the rest in an ice cube tray. And Voila! Your cooling mask is ready for your face. Place the mixture onto your face, it can be a bit runny, but will dry shortly. Leave on your face for 20 minutes. When you are ready to take off the mask steam a clean face towel by running water over it, ringing it out, and placing it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Place the steamed towel on your face for a 60 seconds or so then wipe clean. I hope this does wonders for your skin like it did for mine!
